Eastern Effects TV Studio
Brooklyn, NYProject profile
Eastern Effects TV Studio in Brooklyn.
A 40,000-square-foot former copper warehouse at 270 Nevins Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn, converted into a state-of-the-art production facility and soundstage for Eastern Effects. The studio formed part of the production campus for FX’s The Americans, housing interior sets that brought the series’ 1980s Cold War setting to life. In 2016, the facility became the focus of a displacement dispute over plans to use the site as a construction staging area for combined sewer overflow infrastructure associated with the Gowanus Canal Superfund cleanup. Eastern Effects has continued its studio and lighting/grip rental operations, with facilities including Annex 302 in East Brooklyn and 10 Basin Studios in Kearny, New Jersey.
